The Panchakarma-Cleanse & Restore Experience is designed to detox the channels of elimination, nourish the nervous system, rest & reset the digestive system while revitalizing the energy flow throughout the entire body. Choose your package five or seven consecutive days.

THE TREATMENTS- These will be determined after the Initial Consultation and include many of the following:

Abhyanga Massage: Heated herbal organic oil is massaged into the muscles & joints. This treatment aids in detoxing the body through lymphatic drainage and also nourishes and calms down the nervous system. Releases fatigue & stress from the body and mind. Promotes good vision. Aids in deep restful sleep. Hydrates the skin.

Shirodhara: This divine treatment involves the streaming of warm oil over the forehead which is deeply relaxing and restorative. ‘Shiro’ means head, and ‘dhara’ means flow. When one gets up from this therapy a healthy glow radiates from the skin which looks younger. Eyes gleam with tranquility and serenity. Shirodhara is pacifying to the nervous system, helps with depression, anxiety and relieves insomnia.

Nasya: Ayurveda suggests that the nose is the gateway to the head. Nasal herbal therapy is excellent for sinus problems, headaches and neck tension. The treatment consists of a gentle facial steam which precedes warm herbal oil placed into each nostril and is followed by a facial massage.

Karna Purana: This procedure involves the gentle streaming of warm herbal oil into the ears. Ear oil pacifies vata and helps with headaches, insomnia, and calms the mind.

Swedana: Steam Tent, Hot Stones, and Infrared Sauna are used to create heat during the treatment. Designed to help aid in detoxification by stimulating circulatory exchange which brings fresh oxygen and nutrients to the tissues while loosening metabolic waste and other environmental toxins to be released through the gastrointestinal tract. This allows the skin and blood to be cleansed and also relieves, cleanses and reduces fat tissue and muscle tension.

Udvartana Body Scrub: Vigorous scrubbing treatment using a cleansing herb which cleanses and detoxifies the body. This treatment purifies the system and is a beneficial in clearing metabolic impurities from the system.

Pinda Sweda: In this procedure a warm bolus of medicated grain is applied to the body. This treatment makes the body supple, removes stiffness and swelling in the joints. It helps to balance Vata- clears obstructions, improves blood circulation, removes wastes from the body, improves complexion, strengthens digestion and restores vigor.

Basti: Involves the introduction of  sesame oil or  herbal decoction in a liquid medium into the rectum. This treatment is useful for cleaning out the length of the colon, hydrating the body and freeing the lower body from stress and stagnation.  Basti is especially good for vata imbalances.


Dr. Bill Dean-  Physician & Ayurvedic Practitioner, will oversee the Panchakarma process. The initial consultation is conducted with both Dr. Dean and Shoshanna DiBetta via Skype. This begins the first week of preparation prior to the arrival at The Ayurvedic Healing Arts Retreat Space where you will begin the second week of bodywork and cleansing. 

Brn 390x465Dr. Dean is a physician/surgeon who retired from his private practice of urology in 2011.  His current interest is to marry the currently practiced matter science medical discipline with the more contemporary energy science medical discipline of Ayurveda.

He received his medical training from University of Nebraska and in the last 20 years of his career he has actively integrated the energy science of Ayurveda into his practice. Currently he does online consulting for those interested in looking at health in a new way. He also is teaching Ayurveda as a healing discipline at Bastyr University in Seattle. 

Dr. Bill completed the two year training with Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque NM.  Outside of India the Institute is considered the Harvard of Ayurvedic medicine in the world. This has led to his first book explaining Ayurveda as an energy science, Foods Heal: Why Certain Foods Help You Feel Your Best.

In 2014 he released his second book, IC Bladder Pain Syndrome: The Alternative Medical Treatment for Interstitial Cystitis, on the clinical use of the energy science in managing interstitial cystitis, a condition that allopathic medicine has only temporary solutions for.

This restorative retreat is located in lovely wooded rural neighborhood within a private apartment which is part of her home. The home studio where you will receive your daily treatments is a short walk from the retreat. This allows you as the recipient to have real down time without having to drive back & forth to your appointments each day.IMAG1147



EXERCISE: It is important to stop vigorous exercise while rejuvenating or cleansing the body. It is good to do some gentle walking, Qi Gong, Tai Chi. No intense yoga or strenuous exercise.

REST: You are encouraged to rest, meditate, read spiritual books, write a journal, keep good company, and not expend your energy too much with talking, exercise, or sex.

MEALS: A light breakfast, nourishing lunch, and a light dinner will be served daily.

LOCATION: Beautiful, quiet residential retreat space in the outskirts of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. You will enjoy this fully furnished quiet, charming apartment which is attached to the home of the practitioner allowing for you to stay in the retreat setting without having to travel for your treatments or meals.
